Newsec Energy Transition has had the pleasure of serving as the sole financial advisor to KGAL Investment Management (“KGAL”) and Kempen Alternative Markets Funds (“Kempen”) on its 100% divestment of the operational 130.2 MW Bäckhammar wind farm to Aneo.
KGAL initiated the sale of the Bäckhammar wind farm as part of the sell-down of their green energy fund KGAL ESPF 4, together with minority investor Kempen. The transaction marks a successful investment in the fund, where KGAL and Kempen acquired the asset from the original developers Eolus at its pre-construction stage, in October 2018.
The Wind Farm reached COD in August 2020 with 130.2 MW in the Swedish county of Värmland in SE3. It consists of 31 Vestas turbines and has operated with partially secured revenues through a power purchase agreement with a Tier 1 offtaker.
With this acquisition, Aneo – a joint venture between HitecVision and Trönder Energi – significantly strengthen their renewable energy generation in Sweden and across the Nordics.
Sebastian Blum, heading the transaction for KGAL, commented:
“The Newsec team, led by Omid Ashrafi, provided us with valuable support throughout the entire sales process. Their expertise was instrumental in achieving a successful outcome, and we are more than satisfied with the results of the transaction.”
Omid Ashrafi, Managing Partner at Newsec Energy Transition commented:
“We are very happy for the vote of confidence supporting KGAL and Kempen on this transaction marking our fourth closed renewable transaction in 2025 to date. The market conditions have lately shifted investment focus toward operating assets and platforms rather than new renewable capacity and shows a relatively good liquidity for these types of assets also under more challenging market conditions”
